An air hostess was allegedly sexually harassed while she was on a ventilator and in a semi-conscious state during treatment at a private hospital in GUrugram.
The alleged incident took place on April 6, but the complaint was lodged at Sadar Police Station on April 14, a day after she was discharged from hospital, said the Gurugram Police.
The 46-year-old woman had come to Gurugram for a training on behalf of her company and was staying at a five-star hotel. During this time, her condition deteriorated due to drowning in the swimming pool after which she was admitted to a private hospital for treatment.
On April 5, her husband admitted her to another private hospital in the city. She was on ventilator when a hospital staff allegedly sexually harassed her. She was in a semi-conscious state at the time of alleged harassment and could not resist. Two nurses were also around, but they did not intervene, according to the complaint.
After being discharged from hospital on April 13, she confided in her husband about the harassment and he, in turn, made a call to the Police Control Room. She later filed a formal complaint at the police station in this connection in the presence of her legal advisor.
The Gurugram Police said the victim’s statement was recorded before the Magistrate and the matter was under investigation. The footage of the closed-circuit television cameras inside hospital was being scrutinised and the accused would be soon arrested, said the police.
