Andhra Pradesh attempts to explore Buddhist tourism potential at Berlin conclave

Minister for Tourism and Culture Kandula Durgesh has stated that the tourism potential of the Buddhist sites in Andhra Pradesh would be explored at the International Tourismus-Borse (ITB), an international conclave to be hosted by Germany in Berlin from March 4. Mr. Durgesh and AP Tourism Department Corporation Managing Director K. Amrapali will participate in the ITB. 

Speaking to newsmen at a press conference here on Saturday (March 1, 2025), Mr. Durgesh said: “The State of Andhra Pradesh has a huge potential which remains unexplored for the Buddhist tourism. We will showcase the Buddhist cultural heritage of Andhra Pradesh at the ITB”.

“The talks on the tourism potential and investment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh will be held with various global players in the travel and tourism sectors during the convention”, said Mr. Durgesh. 

Mr. Dugesh has added that the tourist destinations of the Krishna-Godavari and Penna regions would also be revealed to the international stakeholders to draw their attention for the investment under the Public, Private and People Partnership model. 

The Tourism Department is also preparing to conduct Tourism summits in Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai, said Mr. Durgesh.  On exploring tourism potential of the coastline, Mr. Durgesh has said that the efforts are on to get the Blue Flag tag for the Kakinada and Bapatla beaches.
