A male leopard, aged around two, which got itself trapped in a fence at Nedumpala in Wayanad district, was darted and captured by the Forest department personnel on Sunday.

According to sources, the rescue operation began around 1 p.m. after officials from the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary and the rapid response team reached the spot. The whole area was cordoned off thereafter.

The animal was successfully sedated, shifted to a trap cage, and was later given supportive fluids. The animal was then revived by providing an antidote and taken to the Vythiri Forest Station. It is kept under observation now.
