Burglars break open the rear side window of a cattle trader’s house near Jolarpet

Burglars decamped with 46 sovereigns of gold jewellery, silver objects, laptops, Rs 10 lakh cash from the house of cattle trader at Agraharam village near Jolarpet town in Tirupattur on Wednesday.

Police said that B. Muthu, 35, a cattle trader, settled in the village nearly a decade ago. Along with his wife and two children, Muthu went to his parents in laws’ house in Jolarpet for a medical emergency a few days ago.

When the family returned home, they found the rear side windows were broken. Three cupboards and almirah were broken. Valuables including cash, gold jewellery and silver objects were missing from them. Hard disks of CCTV cameras fixed at the veranda of the house were also missing and the cameras were damaged.

Immediately, Muthu alerted Natrampalli police, who rushed to the shop with forensic experts. Fingerprints were taken. Police have also taken footage along the route where the house was located. The Superintendent of Police (SP) Shreya Gupta has formed special teams to nab the culprits. A case has been registered. A probe is underway.
