A leopard was trapped in a cage set up by the Kerala Forest department at Kolathur, Bedadka, Kasaragod. The animal was found on a rubber plantation, near Baroti, on Wednesday (March 26) morning.

Upon receiving information, police and forest officials reached the spot, which drew a large crowd of local residents.

Second instance

This is the second instance of a leopard being caught in the same area. On February 23, a five-year-old leopard was trapped in a similar cage set up by the Forest department at Niduvaotte, sparking protests after it was released near Mulleria.

The Forest department is yet to decide where the captured leopard will be released. For now, the animal, along with the cage, has been shifted to the Pallathungal forest office.
