The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert to Hyderabad and several other districts in Telangana for Thursday (April 10, 2025) warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds.

Extreme weather activity likely in 17 dists

According to the IMD bulletin, the extreme weather activity is likely to occur at isolated places across multiple districts, including Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Mahabubnagar, and Nagarkurnool.

Light to moderate rain forecast

For Hyderabad, the forecast for the next 48 hours suggests light to moderate rain or thundershowers, particularly during the evening or night hours. The city is also expected to witness hazy conditions in the morning. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 38°C and 23°C respectively.

Meanwhile, temperatures across the State continued to soar. According to data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), 22 out of 33 districts recorded maximum temperatures above the 40°C mark on Tuesday. Adilabad was the hottest at 42.7°C, followed by Kumaram Bheem Asifabad at 42°C.

Other districts also experienced intense heat, with Nizamabad recording 41.8°C, Rangareddy and Bhadradri Kothagudem at 41.5°C, Mancherial at 41.4°C, Rajanna Sircilla at 41.3°C, and Mulugu and Nirmal each at 41.2°C. Kamareddy and Khammam reported 41.1°C. Hyderabad and Medchal Malkajgiri both recorded 39.6°C.
