Anantapur District Collector V. Vinod Kumar on Sunday inspected a fair price shop in Kammuru village of Kuderu mandal. Interacting with the beneficiaries, the Collector said that it was the responsibility of the officials concerned to ensure that supplies were distributed in a timely and transparent manner.

He directed the officials to deliver commodities from the 1st to 15th of every month, between 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Collector ordered the operators of the fair price shops to ensure accurate measurements and quality while delivering the goods.

Mr. Kumar also enquired about the rice quality, sugar availability, and irregularities, if any and visited the homes of cardholders to get confirmation that they received their provisions without extra payment.

The Collector shared a meal at the residence of a beneficiary Chittemma and encouraged her daughter, who had failed in one subject in the class 10 examinations, to pursue her studies. He directed the education department officials to enrol her in Intermediate under the Ananta Animutyalu scheme. He said that girls’ education should not be discontinued due to financial constraints.
