Andhra Pradesh State Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav has made bitter remarks that Andhra Pradesh witnessed “dropouts” in all sectors during the State’s YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) rule during 2019-24.

Presenting the annual Budget for the financial year 2025-26 in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly on Friday (February 28, 2025), the Minister said,  “We have heard about dropouts from schools. During the previous regime, not just dropouts from schools, the industries also dropped out. Employment and jobs also dropped.”

The Minister, going further, said such leaders of the previous regime (YSRCP) had now dropped out of the house. They (YSRCP leaders) lost the election for their failures and not even turning up for the Assembly. It is not far to see that they would be dropped out from public life.

“Many industries were chased away from the State, creating a sense of fear amongst the business community. The previous regime kept more than ₹11,000 crore pending dues for incentives to industries, MSMEs, SC and ST entrepreneurs, etc. Out of this, the present National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government has cleared ₹377.73 crore already.”

Mr. Keshav said the State Government was moving ahead from Ease of Doing Business to Speed of Doing Business. “We worked hard then that every household should have one IT employee, but now we are moving ahead with the goal that every family should have one entrepreneur,” he added.
