Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Panchayat Raj & Rural Development K. Pawan Kalyan has directed officials to complete the development works in his constituency (Pithapuram) as per schedule, and ordered that due priority be attached to maintaining law and order and implementation of the MGNREGS.

In a teleconference with the officials of Pithapuram Urban Development Authority (PADA) on Thursday, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said drinking water problems in Pithapuram Municipality, Gollaprolu Nagar Panchayat and other villages should be tackled immediately in view of the summer. He directed that the summer storage tanks be kept in proper condition to supply water.

Warns against misuse of funds

He cautioned the officials against possible misuse of funds being mobilised by the department for various development works, and that he would undertake a weekly review of their progress. Besides, teams of officials were being formed to inspect the quality of works, he added.

Mr. Pawan Kalyan said many works had already been done in the constituency, but there was no scope for complacency as development was a continuous process, which should not be taken lightly.

As far as policing in the constituency was concerned, Mr. Pawan Kalyan called for Intelligence reports on some complaints that came to his notice, while warning that the corrupt police officers and staff would be sternly dealt with.
