Telangana Minister for Panchayati Raj D. Anasuya ‘Seethakka’ has said that the BJP is trying to bring in ‘Manudharma’ (rules of Manu) in India, in place of the Constitution.

Speaking at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar commemoration programme as part of ‘Thrivarnotsavam’, the month-long programme in connection with the opening of the new District Congress Committee Office in Kozhikode, on Tuesday (April 15, 2025), Ms. Anasuya said that if not for the Constitution, a tribal woman like her would not have become an MLA or Minister. “But our Constitution is now in danger, and we, the citizens, have a duty to protect it,” she said.

She alleged that the BJP was trying to ‘divide and rule’ just like the British did by creating confusion and spreading misinformation. The Congress has begun a battle just like the one that it fought against the British, to ‘recover’ India, she said.

Ms. Anasuya said Ambdekar did not live for himself but lived and died for the country. “The Congress will not allow anyone to insult Ambedkar,” she added.

DCC president K. Praveenkumar presided over the event.
