The Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) of the Tamil Nadu police will investigate the attack on YouTuber ‘Savukku’ Shankar’s house in Kilpauk on Monday.

In a statement, Director-General of Police Shankar Jiwal said that a complaint was lodged by Kamala, mother of Mr Shankar residing in Dhamotharamoorthy Street that “a group of around 20 people entered her house, abused her with obscene words, soiled her entire house with sewage waste and criminally intimidated her.”

The Kilpauk police took up an inquiry after issuing an acknowledgement to the complaint.

In the meantime, Commissioner of Police, Chennai, A. Arun requested the Director-General of Police to transfer the case to some other agency as Mr. Shankar had levelled certain allegations against him and the Chennai Police in an interview. Hence, the case was transferred to the CB-CID for further investigation.
