Minister for Civil Supplies Nadendla Manohar has reiterated the State government’s resolve to procure every paddy grain from the farmers. He also sought suggestions from the farmers on total procurement and the ways and means to implement the same.
Accompanied by Railway Kodur MLA and government whip Arava Sridhar, Tirupati MLA Arani Srinivasulu, Joint Collector Shubham Bansal, Gudur Sub-Collector Raghavendra Meena and Sarpanch Penchalamma, Mr. Manohar interacted with local farmers after inspecting the Paddy Procurement Centre at Yathaluru village in Venkatagiri mandal of Tirupati district on Friday.
He pointed out that the government had procured 74,000 metric tonnes of paddy from 7,000 farmers and ₹154 crore was credited to the farmers’ accounts within 24-48 hours.
He infused confidence into the farmers that the Alliance government in the State, having farmers’ welfare in mind, would ensure not only total procurement but also timely payment for their produce. The 134 Rythu Seva Kendras (RSK) in the district will ensure the procurement of every paddy bag. The ₹1,674 crore kept aside as ‘pending dues’ by the previous government had also been paid by the Alliance regime, he recalled.
Later, he distributed LPG cylinders to eligible beneficiaries under the Deepam–II Scheme in Tirupati before proceeding to Tirumala for night stay.
