Clash erupts over religious chants in Mumbai’s Malad

A scuffle broke out between members of two communities in Mumbai’s Malad Pathanwadi region on Sunday (March 30, 2025). The police have registered a case and detained one on Monday (March 31, 2025).

According to the complainant, the clash broke out when two individuals chanted “Jai Shri Ram” while carrying saffron flags during a procession of members of another community, leading to a dispute.

“The police have filed a case against 8-10 unidentified individuals for inciting religious sentiments,” DCP Smita Patil told reporters on Monday (March 31, 2025).

The Kurar police has detained one individual and is looking for others.
