Senior Congress leader Sooranad Rajasekharan passed away at a private hospital in Kochi, Kerala, on Friday (April 11, 2025). He was 75. He was a member of the Political Affairs Committee of the State unit of the party.
He had also served the party and its feeder organisations in various capacities. He had unsuccessfully contested to Parliament and the State Assembly.
He had also served as the State vice president and president of the State Cooperative Bank.
He’s survived by his wife and children.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan condoled the death of Rajasekharan.
Born in 1949, at Sooranadu, Kollam, he had completed his education at Sasthamkotta Devaswom Board College, Changanassery St. Berchmans College and Thiruvananthapuram Law Academy-Law College, later receiving a doctorate from the University of Calicut.
Sooranadu Rajasekharan, who also worked as a journalist, also served as the president of Kollam Press Club.
