Two civil police officers (CPOs) from Wayanad sustained injuries in an alleged attack by a suspect in a vehicle-lifting case at Karassery near Mukkom in Kozhikode on Thursday. The officers were reportedly attacked with a knife when they went to arrest the suspect at his house.

The injured officers — Shalu and Noufal — were admitted to a private hospital at Mukkom. The suspect, identified as Arshad, was taken into custody following the alleged incident.

The police said the two CPOs sustained injuries on their hands. Another CPO had a narrow escape. An investigation is on into the incident.
