Mandya Deputy Commissioner Kumara on Tuesday said that people who are passionate about book reading are certain to make achievements in their lives.
Everyone must have a love for books. Those who are not passionate about books cannot read books, he said.
He spoke after inaugurating the “Manasa Yuva Samvardhane-2025” event organised by the University of Mysore here. Mr. Kumara said instead of devoting a large amount of time to mobile phones, students must develop the habit of reading books. Love for books will make you an achiever and will make you confident, he said.
“To achieve a goal, there might be many hurdles and challenges but we must continue to work hard and pursue the goals without getting disheartened. We must welcome the problems so that we understand our capabilities and strengths,” said Mr. Kumara.
Unless you understand and face the problems, how do you know your strengths?, he asked and said that the inner strength that everyone has must be explored, and for this, we need to understand our strengths.
Mr. Kumara advised the students to come out of their comfort zones and work hard to achieve their dreams. “Do not keep unnecessary desires when you are chasing your goals. Just keep an eye on your goal and pursue it until you achieve it. Always have hope, and confidence plays a key role,” he said.
N.K. Lokanath, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mysore, emphasised the importance of education in shaping one’s future and career. Instead of confining their interests to textbooks, students must develop the habit of reading different kinds of books to improve their knowledge, he said.
Registrar M.K. Savitha, Registrar (Evaluation ) N. Nagaraj, finance officer K.S. Rekha, and others were present.
