DK Metcalf is officially a Pittsburgh Steeler, but it’s his parting shot at the Seahawks that has everyone talking. After being traded to Pittsburgh last week, Metcalf made it clear that he has no regrets about leaving Seattle—and his reasoning was brutally honest.
DK Metcalf Drops a Blunt Statement About the Seahawks
Appearing on the “Get Got Pod” with Marshawn Lynch and Michael Robinson, Metcalf didn’t mince words about his departure from Seattle.
“The grass is greener on the other side,” he said bluntly.
That’s not exactly the warmest farewell for a franchise that drafted him in 2019 and made him one of the faces of the team. But given Seattle’s struggles in recent years, it’s easy to see why Metcalf might feel this way.
Metcalf had been Seattle’s top wide receiver for years, but the team’s constant quarterback carousel and struggles to compete in the NFC West may have worn him down. Since Russell Wilson’s departure, the Seahawks haven’t had a true franchise quarterback, and their offensive identity has been shaky at best.
Last season, Metcalf still put up solid numbers—66 catches, 992 yards, and five touchdowns—but it wasn’t enough to keep him in Seattle. The front office ultimately decided to move him, sending Metcalf and a sixth-round pick to Pittsburgh in exchange for a second-round pick and a seventh-rounder.
Steelers’ New Dynamic Duo: DK Metcalf and George Pickens
In Pittsburgh, Metcalf joins George Pickens, forming one of the most electric wide receiver duos in the league. The only lingering question? Who will be throwing them the ball? With the Steelers still figuring out their quarterback situation, Metcalf will have to hope his new team finds the right leader under center.
That said, Pittsburgh seems far more committed to building a championship-caliber offense than Seattle in recent years. The Steelers have been aggressive in upgrading their roster, and Metcalf’s arrival signals they’re going all-in to compete in the AFC.
Did Seattle Make a Mistake Letting DK Metcalf Go?
Seattle got a second-round pick for Metcalf, but was it worth losing one of their biggest offensive playmakers? With an uncertain future at quarterback and no clear replacement at wide receiver, the Seahawks might end up regretting this trade sooner rather than later.
For Metcalf, though, it’s clear: he’s already moved on. And judging by his comments, he’s convinced he made the right choice.
