The 14.2 kg domestic liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders supplied by national oil companies Indian Oil Corporation, HPCL and BPCL will cost ₹ 905 each from April 8 in Hyderabad.
The price is consequent to the increase in the cooking gas prices, from ₹855 a refill, announced by the Centre on Monday evening. The new price of ₹905 will be applicable to deliveries made, to the households, from Tuesday.
The Centre had also announced a ₹50 per cylinder increase in the price of refills supplied under its Ujjwala scheme. The new price for the refills such consumers need to pay is not clear as the State government under its Mahalakshmi scheme has promised cylinders to these and other economically weak households at ₹500 each.
There is no clarity till late evening on whether the State government will also absorb the ₹50 increase resulting in ₹20 crore additional outgo for it every month, sources in LPG trade said. About 40 lakh households, including a few lakh Ujjwala consumers, get refills at ₹500 each under the State government scheme. Overall, the State has 1.3 crore domestic LPG consumers.
The 19-kg commercial cylinder, used by tea stalls, eateries and restaurants, following a reduction in the prices earlier this month, comes for ₹1,985.50 each in Hyderabad.
