The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), along with Chikkadpally Police, arrested a drug peddler and an inter-State supplier and seized three kilograms of marijuana, two mobile phones and cash.

Acting on credible intelligence, the police apprehended local peddler Dara Sravan, alias Appa, a resident of Amberpet, while he was receiving a consignment from Shaikh Azhar, a supplier hailing from Akola, Maharashtra.

“Dara Sravan has been a habitual marijuana user. Working as a DJ operator and cab driver, he built a network with drivers from Maharashtra. He began purchasing the contraband from Shaikh Azhar in Maharashtra at a lower price and reselling it in Hyderabad at a higher rate. Sravan has been engaged in this illegal trade for the past six months,” said the police.

Shaikh Azhar, an auto driver from Maharashtra, sourced the contraband from suppliers in Odisha and supplied it to peddlers in neighbouring States for profit.
