Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda informed the Legislative Council on Wednesday that the e-Jamabandi software would be ready within a year to speed up the Jamabandi process, a method of matching and regularising village- and taluk-level land records.
Replying to JD(S) member T.N. Javarayi Gowda, he said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had announced this in the recently presented Budget. “This will reduce the work pressure on village accountants and speed up the Jamabandi process,” he said.
E-Jamabandi is an online version of Jamabandi, which provides official confirmation of title deeds or land ownership documents. States such as Haryana have already successfully developed the electronic version of Jamabandi, and Karnataka was also developing e-Jamabandi software on a similar model, he said.
Currently, the option to verify land records and download documents is available on the Karnataka government’s Bhoomi portal. Land title deeds, account details, land maps, and other documents have been provided online, he said.
He said the current Karnataka Land Revenue Act is very old, and a new Land Revenue Act would be brought in after conducting a comprehensive study to provide greater clarity and effective implementation at the field level.
