Farewell given to Kufos student team visiting Norway

A farewell meeting was held at the office of the Chief Minister on Wednesday for the student team of Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS), Panangad, which will leave for Norway for practical training in advancements in the fisheries sector.

The 10-member team will undergo a three-month training at the Norwegian Institute of Food, Fisheries and Aquaculture Research as part of the agreement signed with Kufos, according to a release. Besides the research students, a faculty member is also part of the team.

Fisheries Minister Saji Cherian, Kufos Vice-Chancellor T. Pradeep Kumar, Registrar K. Dinesh, and Fisheries Special Secretary B. Abdul Nazar were present.

The team will work in modern labs involved in various research activities related to the fisheries sector. The knowledge and expertise acquired as part of the training would be utilised for the progress of the fisheries sector in the State, said Mr. Cherian.
