A major fire broke out at a dance academy at Elamakkara here on Saturday night. The academy operated out of the top floor of a three-storey building.
Five fire tenders were used to douse the fire. Power lines in the neighbourhood were disconnected following the incident. A lab and an IT firm functioned on the floors beneath. Firefighters managed to prevent the fire from spreading to these floors.
A suspected short circuit caused the fire and a preliminary estimate put the loss at around ₹30 lakh.
