First day of II PUC exam gets off to a smooth start across State

The first annual examination for II PUC students started on a smooth note on Saturday across the State, with no untoward incidents reported from any of the exam centres.

However, for the Kannada and Arabic subjects exams held on Saturday, as many as 17,184 of the total 5,28,600 candidates who had registered were absent. Highest absentees were from Vijayapura with 1,358, followed by Kalaburagi with 1,218 absentees and 1,186 in Raichur. Least absentees were from Udupi with 38 and Kodagu with 77.

Meanwhile, the School Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa, visited a few examination centres in Bengaluru and wished the best for students by offering them red roses. He also visited a few centres, including one at Mandya district where web casting of the exams is done.

The examination was held at 1,171 examination centres across the State. For the exams this year a total of 7,13,862 have registered of which 3,35,468 are boys and 3,78,389 are girls and 5 transgenders from 5,050 PU colleges across the State.

Photocopy shops around the examination centres were closed as a precautionary measure to avoid malpractice. This year, the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board has warned against spreading false information on question paper leak or spreading rumours on social media.
