The five-day-long Bihar Diwas celebrations kicked off on Saturday (March 22, 2025) in Patna’s historic Gandhi Maidan with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar formally inaugurating the event. This year’s theme is Unnat Bihar, Viksit Bihar (Advanced Bihar, Developed Bihar).

Mr. Kumar was accompanied by both Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha along with other Ministers of his Cabinet.

A large number of people reached Gandhi Maidan, where stalls have been set up by various departments, providing information about various ongoing government schemes.

Showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Bihar, 3D replicas of major tourist places like Mahabodhi Temple, Nalanda University, Vishwa Shanti Stupa, and the Takht Sri Harimandir Patna Sahib were made.

Along with this, a special stall was set up by the Department of Art, Culture, and Youth Affairs where the achievements, modus operandi, and future plans of the department were displayed.

Before the inauguration of the Bihar Diwas celebrations, Mr. Kumar visited the exhibition set up at the ground related to the development works being done by various departments.

Making the theme of Bihar Diwas meaningful, the Department of Labour Resources has set up a stall where proper information about government schemes was given.

The high-tech stall of the department drew the attention of several visitors to check a live model of the Centre of Excellence (CoE) developed in collaboration with Tata Tech at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI). Along with this, robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), electric vehicles, 3D printing, and AR/VR technology were demonstrated.

The objective of the Centre of Excellence is to provide better employment opportunities to the youth of Bihar by connecting them with modern technology.

The Transport Department has taken a big step and organised a free vehicle check and awareness program at the ground. An exhibition of two-wheelers and four-wheelers, e-vehicles, CNG vehicles has also been organised by the department, which remains a centre of attraction for the people.

Special emphasis was laid on road safety, modern vehicle technology and awareness of traffic rules at the stall set up by the Transport Department. The Transport Department made people aware about road accidents and safety rules through Artificial Intelligence (AI) and puppet shows.

There were also free facilities like two vehicular simulators, a live demonstration of charging stations, and an eye check-up for drivers.

Along with this, the facility of making bus passes has been given to the students with special offers, so that they can take advantage of accessible and affordable travel.

Not only this, a painting and slogan writing competition has been organised on the theme of road safety, in which the winners will be rewarded with helmets, key-rings, and reflective bands

Additional Chief Secretary of Education Department Dr. S. Siddharth welcomed the Chief Minister by presenting him a book.
