Eyewear maker Lenskart will lay the foundation stone for its manufacturing facility at the non-SEZ General Park in Tukkuguda, near Hyderabad.
IT and Industries Minister D.Sridhar Babu will participate in the programme marking the beginning of a project that is expected to be completed within two years. It will be world’s largest eyewear manufacturing facility, officials in the Minister’s office said without sharing details.
The company had entered into an MoU with Telangana government in December. It had committed to invest Rs.1,500 crore to establish the manufacturing plant. The project is expected to generate 2,100 jobs.
The proposed plant in Telangana will shape into the world’s largest and most advanced eyewear production hub for Lenskart that now has an advanced manufacturing unit in Rajasthan. Cutting-edge technology and precision engineering will be at the core of the new facility, which is expected to generate significant employment opportunities and bolster Telangana’s reputation as a global hub for high-tech manufacturing.
Lenskart has announced that products manufactured at the plant in Telangana will not only cater to Indian consumers but will also be exported across the globe, reinforcing India’s position in the international eyewear market. The company now exports to Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, the UAE and Saudi Arabia, a reach that is set to expand further with launch of the new facility, the official said.
