The State government will organise a ‘Gulf Martyrs’ commemoration meeting’ to honour the families of workers who died in the Gulf countries soon, said Chairman of Telangana State Mineral Development Corporation Anil Eeravathri.

In a statement, he said that the meeting will be held at Praja Bhavan in Hyderabad where Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will join the families for a luncheon and provide them with assurances.

As part of the government’s initiative, an ex gratia financial assistance of ₹5 lakh will be provided to the families of workers who died in the Gulf countries, considering their deaths as on-duty. This move is a first in the country’s history.

The government has already deposited ₹4.7 crore as ex gratia amount to the families of 94 Gulf deceased. The ‘Gulf Bharosa’ programme aims to commemorate and honour the workers who died in the Gulf countries as ‘Gulf Martyrs’.
