Indian Oil official booked on bribery charge

The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) reportedly booked the Indian Oil Corporation DGM (Deputy General Manager), sales, in an alleged bribery case here on Saturday. THE IOC DGM, Alex Mathew, was taken into custody on a petition filed by a gas agency owner at Kadakkal in Kollam.

It was alleged that the DGM had demanded ₹10 lakh for not transferring the customers of the gas agency owned by the petitioner identified as Manoj, a native of Kowdiar in Thiruvananthapuram, to other different agencies. As per the preliminary reports, the Vigilance team arrested Mr. Mathew when he reached the house of the petitioner at Kowdiar in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday night as part of collecting a tranche of ₹2 lakh from the petitioner.

The Vigilance team also seized another ₹1 lakh cash from his vehicle. The vigilance also started a raid at the house of Mr. Mathew at Kadavanthra in Kochi soon after he was taken into custody in Thiruvananthapuram, according to sources.
