The Joint Action Council of Tamil Nadu Teachers Organisations and Government Employees Organisations (JACTTO-GEO) has distanced itself from reports that one of its State coordinators met with actor-turned politician Vijay over their various demands, including one seeking to resume the old pension scheme. The meeting was not on behalf of the JACTTO-GEO, it clarified.

“The JACTTO-GEO is a joint council of government employees, teachers, and other associations. The independent actions of these individual associations, who are part of the JACTTO-GEO, is based on their private decision. The JACTTO-GEO has no association with them [over their decision/s],” a statement from JACTTO-GEO’s State coordinators said.

They referred to media reports that one of its State coordinators, Mayavan, met the founder of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam on June 13 over their various demands, including one seeking to resume the old pension scheme. It further rejected reports that the meeting with the actor was on behalf of the JACTTO-GEO. “There is no association whatsoever with JACTTO-GEO,” the statement read. Recalling its protests over various demands, the JACTTO-GEO said due to its efforts, it had got the State government to act on nine demands. “Moreover, a guarantee has been received that the report from the committee constituted over the old pension scheme will be received by September 30, 2025. So, we have postponed our activities hoping for a favourable decision from the government.”
