Kerala University conducted a hearing on Friday for Pramod, a contract lecturer from the Institute of Cooperative Management (ICM) in Poojappura, who is responsible for the loss of answer scripts of 71 MBA students.

The teacher, who has come under scrutiny for the incident, asserted that the loss was accidental and not intentional. He explained that the answer sheets went missing during a journey in Palakkad on January 13 and had reported it to the police as soon as he realised the disappearance. He also notified the university about the incident the following day.

Speaking to mediapersons, he said he provided a detailed explanation during the hearing but was still unclear about the final outcome. He added that his college would take appropriate action based on the university’s stance.

Regarding the university’s decision to debar him from examination duties, Mr. Pramod said he accepted the decision and expressed his willingness to fully cooperate with the ongoing inquiry.

University Registrar K.S. Anil Kumar said that a detailed report on the matter would be submitted to the Vice-Chancellor on January 7. The appropriate course of action will be decided following consultations with the Vice-Chancellor and the Syndicate. The Syndicate will discuss the issue in its next meeting.

Vice-Chancellor (in-charge) Mohanan Kunnummal had issued an order suspending the lecturer from his duties pending the completion of the inquiry two days ago.
