The movement of vehicles on the National Highway-169 (NH), connecting Sringeri and S.K. Border, was disrupted following a landslip near Nemmar, in Sringeri taluk, in Chikkamagaluru district in the early hours of Sunday (June 15, 2025.)

The landslip was reported at around 2 a.m. The debris covered the Highway with no space left for the vehicles. The local police placed barricades to avoid any untoward incident. Balaji Singh, Deputy SP of Koppa, deputed staff to manage the situation.

The vehicles on the busy route, which connects Sringeri to Karkala in Udupi district, were diverted via the Bidaragodu-Agumbe route. Officers from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and Fire and Emergency Services also rushed to the scene.

“They cleared the debris and restored the traffic movement by 9 a.m., on Sunday (June 15, 2025)“, said a communique from Chikkamagaluru Police.

Chikkamagaluru district administration has issued an advisory note to the tourists visiting the district during heavy rains to be careful as landslips could occur.
