LB Nagar MLA booked for caste-based remarks against Hasthinapuram corporator Banoth Sujatha

LB Nagar MLA D. Sudheer Reddy has been booked for allegedly making caste-based derogatory remarks against Hasthinapuram corporator Banoth Sujatha during a media interaction.

A case was booked under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 and Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following a complaint by Ms. Sujatha, LB Nagar Inspector K. Vinod Kumar confirmed.

The complainant alleged that Mr. Sudheer Reddy, while addressing the media on March 17, made offensive remarks against her. She stated that the comments were intended to insult her modesty and humiliate her in front of the public.

Ms. Sujatha, who belongs to the Lambada community, claimed that the remarks were not only degrading but also hurtful to her family and community. She further alleged that Mr. Sudheer Reddy had previously insulted her on caste grounds.

Further investigation into the matter is under way.
