Ridiculing the ‘drama’ by BJP leaders to cleanse the statues of Dr B R Ambedkar, Congress MP Chamala Kiran Reddy asked whether they were cleaning the statues for ‘unsavoury’ comments made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah against Dr. Ambedkar.
In a statement here, he said it was laughable that Union ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay had cleaned Dr. Ambedkar’s statues and termed this as a drama to escape from criticism. He said they never spoke on the ‘insult’ of Dr. Ambedkar in Parliament by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Mr. Reddy challenged the BJP leaders to make Mr. Shah apologise to the country first before cleaning the statues. “They are trying to convince people of Telangana that the BJP was following Ambedkar’s ideology. But people will never forget how they made unsavoury allegations on him right in Parliament,” he said.
