A man, reportedly under the influence of drugs, hacked his wife to death at Engapuzha near Thamarassery in Kozhikode on Tuesday night. His in-laws sustained injuries when they tried to prevent him.
According to reports, the deceased is Shibila. Her husband, Yasir, a native of Puthuppady, fled the spot after committing the crime around 7 p.m. P. Abdurahman, her father, and Haseena, her mother, suffered serious injuries and were admitted to hospitals. Abdurahman’s condition is learnt to be serious.
Yasir allegedly attacked his wife at the latter’s house. The incident happened when people in the area were breaking their Ramzan fast. Shibila and Abdurahman were later shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode, where she succumbed to injuries. Haseena was admitted to the Government Taluk Hospital, Thamarassery.
