Man held with 508 grams of suspected MDMA in Kochi

The Kochi City police arrested a 38-year-old man from Malappuram on charge of possessing 508 grams of suspected MDMA, on Sunday.

Muhammad Nishad was arrested, based on a tip-off, during a raid at Puthukalavattom. Narcotics Superintendent of Police Abdul Salam led the raid. Nishad was engaged in drinking water supply business at Aluva. A probe is on to identify from where he procured the drug and details of the others involved in the case.

In another raid by the Maradu police, three persons from Assam were arrested from Vyttila with 10 grams of suspected brown sugar and 2.5 grams of ganja. Similarly, six people who were allegedly engaged in gambling were arrested by the Cheranaloor police from a tourist home. A sum of ₹42,890 was seized from them.

The police also registered 138 cases for drunk driving and 22 cases under the Abkari Act during a combing operation in Kochi on Saturday night.
