Police have cracked the murder of a 26-year-old man who was found murdered near the edge of Turahalli forest on Monday. Police have now arrested is wife’s former fiance and are looking out for his wife.

The deceased, identified as Sameer, a mechanic by profession, was discovered early Monday morning behind a roadside eatery near Thalaghattapura. A Hoysala police patrol team came across his body lying in a pool of blood.

According to officials, evidence at the scene indicated that the assault occurred at the very location where the body was found. The absence of defensive injuries and signs of struggle led investigators to suspect that the assailant was someone known to Sameer.

Probing further, the police questioned close friends and relatives, eventually uncovering a history of strained domestic relations.

“Sameer’s wife, 22-year-old Umme Salma alias Nazia, had previously been engaged to the accused, Dada Peer alias Daddu, 25. After their engagement was called off, she went on to marry Sameer. The couple had a one-year-old child,”a senior police officer said.

Despite the end of their relationship, Salma and Peer—also a mechanic—had remained in contact. Official said that Salma allegedly confided in Peer about frequent quarrels with her husband and his drinking habits. The two then allegedly hatched a plan to kill Sameer.

On the night of April 6, Peer is believed to have lured Sameer to a secluded spot behind the dhaba near Turahalli forest and killed him using an iron rod. While Peer has been taken into custody, police are searching for Salma, who is currently absconding.
