A 19-year-old MBBS aspirant from Tindivanam was found dead at her house on Sunday (March 2, 2025).

The police identified the deceased as R. Indumathi, from Dadapuram near Tindivanam.

According to the police, the teenager, who completed her Class 12 in a government school in 2022, was preparing to attempt NEET for the second time and was undergoing coaching at a centre in Puducherry.

On Sunday evening, her father Ramadas went to an e-Seva centre to apply for her OBC certificate. He had called his daughter to provide the OTP needed for the process. However, she gave him the wrong OTP, causing a delay. Though he managed to download the certificate, Ramadas reportedly chided his daughter on reaching home, a senior police officer said. She was reportedly found dead in her room later.

The Vellimedupettai police retrieved the body and sent it for postmortem examination to the Government Villupuram Medical College and Hospital. A case has been registered.

The police suspected it was a case of suicide, but said the exact cause of death would be known only after the postmortem examination.
