MNREGA: Mysuru crosses 24 lakh man-days target during 2024-25

The Mysuru Zilla Panchayat has achieved its target under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) scheme by achieving 24,43,834 man-days against the target of 24 lakh man days for 2024-25.

An official statement issued here on Saturday (March 29, 2025) said the district had achieved 101.83% of its target for the year 2024-25. A total of 3,38,973 job cards had been issued in the district out of which 1,46,368 families had active job cards. A total of 2,77,379 beneficiaries had availed the scheme, the statement added.

The various types of works undertaken in the scheme included groundwater conservation efforts, afforestation projects, school development projects, Sanjeevini Shed construction, Anganwadi building construction, road works and drainage projects, farmers’ action plans and other community related works.

Targets exceeded

Out of the six taluks that exceeded their targets, K.R. Nagar recorded the highest achievement of 119.59%, surpassing its target of 151,084 man-days to achieve a total of 180,678 man-days.

Similiarly, T Narsipura too exceeded its target of 356,975 man-days by reaching 402,286 man-days and recording 112.69% achievement. Saragur taluk achieved 110.34% by reaching 194,478 man-days against the targeted 176,261 man-days.

Saligrama taluk achieved 103.90% by completing 161,140 man-days out of targeted 155,098 while H.D. Kote too achieved 103.60% by reaching 401,055 man-days out of the targeted 387,119 man-days.

The three taluks, which could not complete the target, include Mysuru, which achieved only 78.32% of the targeted 220,919 man-days, Hunsur, which achieved 91.96% of 299,091 man-days and Nanjangud, which achieved 95.47% of 338,746 man-days.

Wage increase

Meanwhile, the Union Ministry for Rural Development had issued an order increasing the daily wages in Karnataka from ₹349 in 2024-25 to ₹370 in 2025-26, effective from April 1, 2025.

The statement also said an Integrated Helpline number had been launched to provide information and resolve grievances related to MNREGA, rural drinking water, sanitation, rural development and panchayat raj schemes. The integrated helpline number is 82775-06000 and people can call on this number for any queries on complaints.
