A woman in Ameenpur mandal strangulated her three children to death as they were an obstacle to her love affair, said Patancheru police of Sangareddy.

The accused, Avuri Chintala Rajitha alias Lavanya, 30, along with her lover Shiva Kumar, 30, has been taken into police custody, said Sangareddy District SP Paritosh Pankaj.

“Rajitha, who worked as a private school teacher, was married to Avurichintala Chennaiah in 2013 when she was in her second year of Intermediate. Her husband, a water tanker driver, was 20 years older than her. The couple have three children,” said the SP.

The officer added that six months ago, Rajitha rekindled her acquaintance with her former classmate Shiva through a school reunion discussion. “Their frequent conversations led to an affair, and Rajitha soon expressed her desire to marry him. Shiva, however, insisted that he would marry her if she had no husband or children,” added the officer.

Determined to be with Shiva, Rajitha decided to kill her children.

“As per her plan, on March 27, around 6 p.m., she informed Shiva of her plan, to which he urged her to act swiftly. That night, after her husband left for work at 10 p.m., she smothered her children using a towel. She first killed her eldest son, followed by her daughter, and finally her youngest son,” shared the SP.

The Sangareddy police, after investigating the crime, confirmed Shiva’s involvement in encouraging Rajitha to commit the act. Both the accused have been arrested and remanded for further legal proceedings.
