A target of June 12 has been set for completing the construction and pending works on Andhra Pradesh TIDCO houses, following Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s directions to hand over house site documents to 2 lakh beneficiaries.
In a virtual review meeting with Municipal Commissioners in the State on Monday, Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Principal Secretary S. Suresh Kumar asked them to visit TIDCO housing colonies to monitor progress and address infrastructural bottlenecks, if any. The re-allotment process for beneficiaries must be completed by April 30, he said.
According to an official release from the department, the Principal Secretary also added that all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) should achieve 100% door-to-door garbage collection and waste segregation at source by October 2. Desilting of all drains have to be done before the onset of monsoon, Mr. Suresh Kumar said.
Special focus was laid on 39 ‘critical’ ULBs that face the risk of water shortages. Municipal Commissioners of Eluru, Gudivada, and Machilipatnam received specific instructions to ensure continuous water supply by coordinating with District Collectors and relevant departments to fill summer storage tanks.
Revenue improvement strategies, including advance tax rebates and interest waivers, were discussed to boost property tax and water charge collections. Municipalities ranking in the bottom five for revenue collection were advised to show significant improvement before the next review.
