Murder bid FIR as 5 IIT students attack classmate

Roorkee: An FIR has been registered against five students of IIT-Roorkee for attempted murder after they allegedly attacked a 24-year-old MTech student from Jharkhand with glass bottles in his hostel. The accused are on the run, said police.
Kishan Kumar Keshri, a resident of Hirapur in Dhanbad, was attacked around 11pm on March 23 at Govind Bhawan hostel. As he returned from visiting a senior at a hotel near the bus station, five fellow MTech students ambushed him at the reception. The accused struck his head and face with three glass bottles, knocked him to the ground, and kicked and punched him until he lost consciousness. He was taken to the institute’s hospital and later referred to another medical centre due to his critical condition.
“Keshri is now out of danger,” said a police officer on Friday.
