The Superintendent of Police(SP), Vivekananda Shukla, on Tuesday (March 4, 2025), declared that the district will be a no fly zone on March 6 to 7 due to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Recruits Training Centre (RTC) of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Thakkolam near Arakkonam town on March 7.

Police said Mr. Shah will participate in the renaming ceremony of the centre into Rajaditya Cholan (RTC) in memory of the Chola prince, who died in a battle there centuries ago. An order for the name change was issued by Rajwinder Singh Bhatti, Director General of the CISF in February.

Accordingly, all individuals and civil agencies are prohibited from flying any non-conventional aerial objects in the district without any prior permission on the said days. The district police will destroy or confiscate any UAVs that violate this restriction.

Further, the operator found violating these orders will be charged under the provisions of BNS. It has been informed that approval for utilisation of drones by any operator or civil/government agency is governed by guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
