A day after Chidambaram MP Thol. Thirumavalavan contended that he had not insulted late AIADMK leaders and former Chief Ministers M.G. Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa, former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, on Sunday (August 10, 2025), condemned the VCK founder his remarks and demanded him to withdraw them.

“It is not good for Mr. Thirumavalavan to have spoken like that. It would not lead to his political development. So, I urge Mr. Thirumavalavan to take back his remarks on Puratchi Thalaivar MGR [former Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran] and Puratchi Thalaivi Amma [former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa],” Mr. Panneerselvam said in a statement.

While there could be nothing wrong in Mr. Thirumavalavan praising the DMK or the DMK president either for getting more seats in the upcoming elections or to be part of the Cabinet, Mr. Panneerselvam said: “It is not decency to criticise leaders who were beyond community and caste lines. Mr. Thirumavalavan should think if it was appropriate to criticise Amma on her caste.”

Recalling the contributions of the panneerselvam/” title=”Do not politicise my meeting with Stalin, says O. …”>late leaders M.G. Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa for social justice, Mr. Panneerselvam charged that criticising leaders, who worked for the betterment of all sections of the society, was unjustified.
