Peak temperature in Telangana drops by over 2°C

A few days after temperatures in Telangana reached 42°C, the highest  maximum temperature dropped to 39.9°C on Thursday (March 20, 2025). 

According to Telangana Development Planning Society’s bulletin on temperatures recorded from Thursday morning to Friday morning, the highest maximum temperature of 39.9°C was recorded in Bhadrachalam in Bhadradri Kothagudem, followed by 39.7°C each in Madnur of Kamareddy and Nidamanoor of Nalgonda. In Hyderabad, 38.6°C was recorded in Bandlaguda.

The drop was predicted as India Meteorological Department issued an orange alert forecasting thunderstorm, lightning, hail storms and gusty winds in isolated places of eight districts for Friday (March 21, 2025). The districts are Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Jagtial, Mancherial, Pedapalli and Jayashankar Bhuplapally.

Besides, a yellow alert – thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds – was issued to Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Rajanna Sirsilla, Karimnagar, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal.

Hazy conditions were forecast for Hyderabad with maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be around 37 and 23 respectively.
