Rare honour for children’s author Dasari Venkata Ramana

Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award recipient Dasari Venkata Ramana is set to receive another recognition with the Kendra Sahitya Akademi’s recent decision to translate his book ‘Anandam’, a collection of children’s stories, into 24 Indian languages. The Hindi translation has already been completed by Paranandi Nirmala.

The book ‘Anandam’ has already gained recognition, with one of its stories, ‘Ananda’, being translated into Marathi by Budharam Renuka and included in the curriculum for first-year students at Solapur University in Maharashtra. Venkata Ramana won the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award for ‘Anandam’ in 2014.

Earlier, his stories ‘Veguchukka’ and ‘Palleku Podam’ were included in the Yuva Bharati 12th-class book and the eighth-grade book, respectively, by the Maharashtra Government Textbook and Curriculum Research Institute.

Mr.Ramana was an officer with the Telangana State Registration Department. His literary achievements extend far beyond this award. In addition to his literary accomplishments, Mr.Ramana obtained a Ph.D degree on the topic ‘Chandamama stories and personality development’ from Osmania University. His book ‘Ammamanasu’ won the Telugu University Award, further solidifying his reputation as a talented writer. He is also involved in creating message-oriented short films.
