Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday (March 5, 2025) launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during ‘Yuva Chaupal’ organised by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) youth wing in Patna’s Miller High School saying that among the youth, there is no need for a 75-year-old Chief Minister.
While addressing the thousands of youth in Patna during the rally, Mr. Yadav assured that when his government would be formed, police cannot dare to use batons against the students in an oblique reference to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) row.
Accompanied by RJD Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Yadav and his elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav, Leader of Opposition in Bihar Legislative Assembly Mr. Yadav raised the issue of youth power asserting that Bihar has 58% of youth and they can change the future of Bihar once they make a pledge for change.
“India is the youngest country in the world and Bihar is the youngest State among all the States in the country. Bihar has decided that youth will make ‘New Bihar’. Bihar has the maximum population of youth aged between 18 and 25,” Mr. Yadav said, adding that the State does not need a “tired and retired” Chief Minister.
He asked the crowd gathered at the venue whether they need a 75-year-old Chief Minister in Bihar and a firm response came in unison as “no”.
Showing respect towards Mr. Kumar, the RJD leader emphasised that he has high regards for the Chief Minister but it was sad to witness that the entire Bihar government has “fallen sick”.
“If the sick government will continue for a few more days in Bihar then the entire State will become sick. The Chief Minister does not even know the names of his Cabinet Ministers and Secretaries. Forget this, Nitishji cannot remember the names of his two Deputy Chief Ministers,” Mr. Yadav said.
Clad in a green T-shirt and jeans, Mr. Yadav alleged that both of Mr. Kumar’s deputies in the Bihar Cabinet were telling lies in the Assembly and called the BJP as ‘Barka Juttha Party’ (party filled with big liars).
Citing a NITI Aayog report, Mr. Yadav said there is heavy outmigration from Bihar due to lack of employment, job opportunities and good educational institutions in the State.
“For the youth aged between 18 and 23 years, there are only seven colleges for every one lakh population. Where will the youth go for study and that’s the reason, they go outside the State for study purpose, which leads to migration. Out of 534 blocks in Bihar, there is no degree college in 400 blocks and 82% youth living in rural areas are unemployed, Mr. Yadav added.
Taking a dig at Mr. Kumar, the RJD leader claimed that the CM has spoiled the future of two generations in his 20 years of rule and if Nitish Kumar gets another chance to rule, then the future of the third generation would also be destroyed.
He asked the gathering whether they want an “anti-youth CM”, to which the crowd responded ‘no’.
“Irrespective of any caste and religion, the time has come to change the government if you need a job and employment in Bihar. He (Mr. Kumar) is just a mask and being controlled with a remote control by someone else,” Mr. Yadav alleged.
