Self-immolation bid by two near Bapatla railway station, one critical

In a shocking incident, two individuals attempted to end their lives by self-immolation at a private railway reservation centre near the Bapatla Railway Station on Friday (April 11, 2025).

The two persons were identified as Lakshminarayana, 67, a retired railway employee, and Nallamothu Madhavi, 56. According to locale, the duo doused themselves in petrol and set themselves ablaze at the premises of the centre.

Alert locals responded swiftly, extinguished the flames, and rushed both the victims to the local government hospital for emergency medical care. According to hospital sources, whle Madhavi’s condition is critical, Lakshminarayana is being closely monitored.

The motive behind the extreme act is still unclear, and police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the reasons.
