Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader K.M. Shaji has lashed out at Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for justifying Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) general secretary Vellappally Natesan in the latter’s anti-Malappuram remarks.
Mr. Shaji said in Kozhikode on Saturday (April 12, 2025) that his party never cared for either Mr. Vijayan or Mr. Natesan. “Pinarayi Vijayan may be cooling his heels with the hope of winning their votes after a year. But we do not care,” said Mr. Shaji.
Mr. Vijayan, while praising Mr. Natesan for completing 30 years as the general secretary of the SNDP, said that Mr. Natesan would never hate or harm any community. “His speech was never against any community,” the Chief Minister said.
Mr. Natesan, while addressing a meeting in Nilambur a few days ago, said that the Ezhava community was living under oppression in Malappuram. He added that they could not even breathe freely in the district. Former BJP president K. Surendran soon supported Mr. Natesan, claiming that Malappuram was a place where one would not get a single drop of water during the day in Ramzan.
