Social security, welfare fund board pensions to be disbursed from June 20

The social security and welfare fund board pensions for the current month will be disbursed from June 20, Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal said.

Close to 62 lakh beneficiaries are eligible to receive ₹1,600 each under the pension scheme. Mr. Balagopal said the previous and current LDF governments had spent nearly ₹73,654 crore on social security and welfare fund board pensions.

The current LDF government has so far spent ₹38,500 crore. The UDF government which was in power during 2011-2016 spent ₹9,011 crore on the pensions, Mr. Balagopal said.
