RANCHI: A scuffle and mild stone pelting occurred between two groups during the Mangla Julus procession, part of the Ram Navami celebrations on Tuesday in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand.
According to the information, the dispute escalated after an objectionable slogan was raised near Jhanda Chowk on Tuesday late night.
After this, stone pelting took place from both sides. After stone pelting, the miscreants started vandalism.
This incident took place near Jama Masjid located near Jhanda Chowk in Sadar police station area on Tuesday night. According to the information, the miscreants also vandalized.
At the same time, the administration has allegedly fired tear gas shells along with aerial firing to control the crowd. Mangala procession was taken out for Ram Navami, during this time there was a dispute between two parties after an objectionable slogan was raised.
The dispute has increased so much that both the parties started pelting stones at each other. Many officers including Hazaribagh SP are also present on the spot.
“As of now, the situation is peaceful and under control. Adequate forces have been deployed at the spot,” stated Nancy Sahay, deputy commissioner of Hazaribagh.
A large number of police forces has been deployed at the spot.
A similar incident transpired during Holi celebrations in Giridih district.

“A large police contingent was deployed to restore peace in the area. The situation is under control and is being monitored closely,” said Khorimahua Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Rajendra Prasad.
The authorities have maintained a strong presence in the area to prevent any further escalation of violence between the groups.
