Scores of devotees witnessed the Tiru Kalyana Mahotsavam (celestial wedding) of Lord Rama with his consort Sita performed amid religious fervour at the flower bedecked Mithila Stadium in Telangana’s famous temple town of Bhadrachalam on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami on Sunday.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy made the customary presentation of ‘pattu vastrams’ and ‘mutyala talambralu’ on behalf of the State Government at the celestial wedding.

He, along with his wife Geetha Reddy, offered prayers at the historic Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy temple dating back to the 17th century on the occasion.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Endowments Minister Konda Surekha, Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust board chairman B.R.Naidu among others attended the celestial wedding in Bhadradri, popularly known as ‘south Ayodhya’.
Undeterred by the scorching heat, hordes of devotees watched the ‘celestial wedding’ of ‘the divine couple’ engrossed in spiritual ecstasy.
The Bhadrachalam temple was beautifully decorated for the occasion, and elaborate security arrangements were in place to ensure smooth conduct of the festivities. The day began with early morning rituals such as Thiruvaradhana, Mangala Sasanam and Abhishekam in the main temple. Later, the deities were taken in a grand procession from the temple to the beautifully decorated Kalyana Mandapam at Mithila Stadium amid the chanting of Vedic hymns.
The celestial wedding ceremony was conducted during the Abhijit Lagna, followed by the vibrant Talambralu event. The wedding, which lasted from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. was witnessed by thousands of devotees at the stadium and lakhs more via live television broadcast across the world. The government had made elaborate arrangements for devotees at the stadium.
